    Notes:

    From the famous Grimani family of Venice, she was famed for her youthful beauty and talent. Born in Paris and named after Lady Suffolk, by whom she was partly brought up, and of whose daughter, Lady Catherine, she became a close friend. She became an actress, starting at the Theatre Royal in Bath (1800 - 1803), then Haymarket, London (1804) and Liverpool, where she met her husband, Charles Mayne Young, and they were married there in 1805. They played together in Manchester, where their son, Julian Charles, was born in 1806, and where Julia died 10 days later at the age of 21. Charles Mayne Young went on to be a very famous actor.

Served in South Africa 1878-79 (medal & clasp in Zulu war): Joined Indian Army (6th Bengal Light Infantry) 1880; Capt. May 1889; served in China 1900 (medal); Major May 1898; Lieut.-Col. May 1904; Colonel May 1907; Major General September 1912 and commanded Jhansi, Peshawar Infantry and Rangoon Brigades. Awarded 1914-15 Star, British War medal, Allies' (Victory) medal of the Great War.

    Retired from Indian Army 1919. He and his wife lived from 1919 at Carringtons, Milford-on-Sea, Hants.

    Information from his baptism record. Rawalpindi was part of India at that time, I think Father George Gordon Young was Assistant Commissioner of that "place" was it Rawalpindi or Punjab?

    Charles married Agnes Hilda Gibbs on 20 Sep 1892 in St Mary Abbots Church, Kensington, London. Agnes (daughter of George Louis Monck Gibbs and Laura Beatrice Elton) was born on 4 Sep 1865 in Paddington, London; died on 1 Mar 1934 in London. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
