    Baptised 16 May 1898 at St. Peter's, Eaton Square, Westminster. Educated at Cheltenham College 1911-15 (scholar) and Royal Military College, Sandhurst (prize cadet) 1915. Died unmarried in a Nursing Home in London and was buried at Milford-on-Sea, Hants. Memorial Inscription in churchyard. Administration 18 December 1928.

    2nd Lieut. Somerset Light Infantry 1916: served on the North West Frontier, India 1917-19 including the Afghan Campaign. He was Cipher Officer at General headquarters, Constantinople, during the British, French, Italian occupation 1920-24 and present at the destruction of Smyrna 1922. Rejoined his regt. 1924; was in Egypt 1926; adjutant of Battalion 1928. Languages: Higher Standard Pushtu (Afghan) and 1st class Italian Interpreter. Awarded the British War medal, and Allies' (Victory) medal of the Great War, and the Indian N.W. Frontier (Afghanistan) medal.
