He succeeded to the title of 20th Earl of Morton on 8 October 1935.1 He graduated from Magdalen College School, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1936 with a Master of Arts (M.A.). He gained the rank of Flight Lieutenant in the service of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He fought in the Second World War. He was invested as a Fellow, Linnean Society (F.L.S.). He was decorated with the award of the Royal Horticultural Society Victoria Medal of Honour in 1967. Died unmarried
