- Clarence Green Mitchell was born to John W. Mitchell and Caroline Mitchell in Charleston, South Carolina, in July 1826. He spent a short period of time in San Francisco, California, in the mid-1850s and received an appointment as Commissioner of Deeds for the State of California in New York in 1852. He married Sarah A. Lindley in New York in 1872. Clarence G. Mitchell worked as an attorney in his father's practice, Mitchells & Hinsdale (in partnership with Elizur B. Hinsdale). Clarence Mitchell played a significant role in the management of distributions from the Mary Green estate to his cousins Timothy Green Mitchell, Martha Louise Mitchell, and Elizabeth ("Lizzie") Green Mitchell. Clarence G. Mitchell died in South Carolina in 1893.
