Was Captain 2nd in command of Royal Naval Coll. Dartmouth 1919-21. Commanded H.M.S. Bryony (Commander-in-Chief s yacht) Mediterranean Fleet, 1921-3. Member of the Royal Victorian Order 1911. Companion of the Distinguished Service Order 1916. Mentioned 4 times in Despatches (13 April 1915, 25 July 1916, 22 June 1917, 7 Jan. 1918). 1914 Star, Brit. War Medal and Allies' (Victory) medal of the Great War.
From 1923 farmed with his brother Joseph at Malthouse Farm, Standish, Glos.
Second World War: Bar to D.S.O.; served throughout war: 1939-40 Narvick (Norway); 1942-44 H.M.S. Queen Emma—Dieppe Raid and others; Sierra Leone; Mediterranean. 1944-46 H.M.S. Ganges at Shotley, Suffolk. Hon.
