Sometime in the brewery partnership mentioned under George Harold Gibbs. 2nd Lieut., 3 Mar. 1897, in Royal East Kent Yeomanry Cavalry. 2nd Lieut., 1899, in Inniskilling 6th Dragoons, Lieut. 12 Ap. 1901. Served in the Boer War in South Africa 1899-1901 (medal with 3 clasps). A.D.C. 1903 to his bro.-in-law Major-General Parr when in command of the North West District of England at Chester. Resigned from the Army 21 Oct. 1903.
Trout-breeding at Beaulieu, Hants. 1906-11. A director of Blyth Greene Jourdain & Co., Ld., London, 1899-1922. In the Great War was on home service as temp. Major in the Gloucestershire Yeomanry 19 September 1914 to December 1919. Resided at 13 Cadogan Court, Draycott Avenue, Chelsea, for some years from 1911; at Winson Manor, Gloucestershire, for some years up to his death.
