Commander in Chief United Kingdom Land Forces (1974-76). Chief of the General Staff (1976-79). Colonel Commandant The Royal Green Jackets and The Parachute Regiment. ADC General to H.M. The Queen (1976-79). M.C. 1942; D.S.O. 1945; C.B.E. 1968; K.C.B. 1972; G.C.B. 1976.
