Secretary to the Royal African Society 1974-78. Dismissed November 1978 owing to differences with the Officers of the Society over, in the main, business dealings with Rhodesia, at that time an illegal regime, not recognised by Great Britain and with whom trade was illegal; and South Africa, a country whose black population she considered to be exploited badly by British firms.
November 1979 joined Threshold Foundation Bureau, an organisation which holds the belief that the world, on the Threshold of the 1980's, is on the Threshold of a New Age. It exists to promote projects that recognise the dangers of world collapse by armed or economic might and the need to heal the divisions by creating alternative life-styles.

Founder of U.K. Council for Overseas Student Affairs Working Party on Zimbabwe Students (a body set up to co-ordinate all scholarships in 1970; from 1967, after Rhodesia had become an illegal regime and the High Commission in London closed down, she helped to organise the setting up of this body which served as a replacement for the Education Department of the High Commission).
