George Gibbs of Heifield in Woodbury aforesaid, baptised at Clyst St. George 30 December 1586; buried there 19 April 1659. Administration November 1660 in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury, Doctors Commons, London.

The Administration of his Will mentions his wife Susanna and son George. The Clyst St. George parish register describes him as of Heifield, no doubt the same as Hethfelde of No. 4 above.

He is the earliest actually proved ancestor of the family. The pedigree from this George and his wives was recorded in the books of the College of Arms in 1858; see p. xvi, 1 of the Additions of 1927 to 'Antony & Dorothea Gibbs' by J.A. Gibbs. George's will, proved by his widow Mary, mentions his sons John the elder, John the younger, Edward, Andrew, and George, daughter Catherine, grandson George, son of John the elder, also his brother-in-law Andrew Loveringe. John Gib a witness, William Gib an overseer of the will.

Sister of Andrew Loveringe of Exmouth, married at Clyst St. George 8 November 1584; buried there 23 October 1643. Will dated 10 August 1640; proved 15 November 1643 in the Principal Registry of the Bishop of Exeter.

Will proved by her son George mentions sons John, Andrew and his wife Alice, grandsons William and George, grand-daughter Maria, and step-grandson Robert.
