In a deed of 17 March 1624-5 (among title deeds of William Carnegie Barnes of Exeter (formerly of Great Duryard there ) - in 1930) he "John Gibbe of Pitt in Clyst St. George yeoman' leased property in Ebford, Woodbury, from Sir Thomas Prideaux of Nutwell, Woodbury for 99 yrs., paying £110 down and 10s yearly. The Memorial Inscription to John and his wife is on the floor of the N. aisle of the church.
