    MA, MI Struct., EM, Asce. 3rd son of Late Sir Alexander Gibb, GBE, CB of House of Gruinard, Rosshire (see Burke's 'Landed Gentry'). Educated at Eton and New College, Oxford.

    Partner in Sir Alexander Gibb and Partners, Consultant Engineers. Served 1939-45 War in Inns of Court Regiment. Died as a result of a motor accident in August 1970. Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Skinners in 1939; Liveryman in 1939; Elected Renter Warden 1967; Member of the Court 1968; 3rd Warden 1969; 2nd Warden 1970. Travelled greatly on account of his work to India, Burma, Australia, South & East Africa.

    Otherwise liked to be at home with his family. In later years became an enthusiastic gardener. A member of many Engineering Institutions.

    For several years worked as a V.A.D. for the British Red Cross Society. Lived in Kenya 1951-53. Since leaving Kent in 1966 has worked for the Samaritans. For many years has helped run a Book Shop. Travelled with her husband, visiting Rangoon, Delhi, Berlin and Holland.

After serving as Civil Engineer-in-Chief to the Admiralty and Director-General of Civil Engineering at the Ministry of Transport, he established the engineering consultancy firm Sir Alexander Gibb & Partners.     5th son of Henry Martin Gibbs of Barrow Court. Baptised 28 December 1889 at St. Michael's, Paddington. Educated at Eton College 1902-8 ad at Cirencester Agricultural College 1909-10.

    He qualified as an Associate of the Surveyors' Institution, 1910, and was learning land agency, 1911-12. A clerk in Vivian Gray & Co., stockbrokers, in the City of London, 1912-14; member of the London Stock Exchange from 1914.

    After the Great War he rejoined Vivian Gray & Co., but from 1919-23 his home was at Gatwicke Hall, Barrow Gurney, where he was working his father's Home Farm on his own account. Partner in Vivian Gray & Co. from 1922. 2nd Lieut., North Somerset Yeomanry, Jan. 1910; Lieut., Aug. 1914; Capt. May 1915. Territorial Decoration, 1920. Retired from Territ. Army, 1928. Served 1914-18 in the Great War in France and Belgium (1914 Star, British War Medal, and Allies' (Victory) Medal). Served in North Somerset Yeomanry in the Second World War.

    A Trustee of St. Michael's Home, Cheddar from 1918. Resided at 7 Tite Street, Chelsea, 1923-25; The Hyde, Hatfield, Herts, 1925-27; Chestnut Farm, Acton Turville, Glos., 1927-28; from 1928 at Ruckley, Easton Grey, Malmesbury; after the war at The Cottage, Badminton and finally at Park Leaze, Ewen, Cirencester.

    Baptised 8 July 1890 at St. Saviour's, Pimlico. 1st daughter of Henry Percy St. John (died 1921); a Principal Clerk in the House of Lords, for whom see Bolingbroke in Burke's 'Peerage') by Maude Louise, daughter of Hon. Pascoe Ch. Glyn, for whom see Wolverton in Burke's 'Peerage'. Buried at Barrow.

    A Trustee of St. Michael's Home, Cheddar from 1928. Indefatigable worker in many social spheres. For many years, while living at Easton Grey, she was a leading organiser of Malmesbury Hospital. A keen and able Conservative politician in the Chippenham Division, she was the mainstay first to Sir Victor Cazalet M.P. and then from 1943-62 to Mr. David Eccles, M.P. (now Lord Eccles). In the Second World War she kept the Constituency going by her own endeavours in her official capacities of Treasurer and then Chairman. She also ran a canteen at Badminton for H.M. Queen Mary's Guard and other soldiers stationed in the neighbourhood. An enthusiastic and
    talented gardener.

    Died 29 September 1964.
