He joined the Royal North Devon Hussars 1906; Surgeon Lieut. 1906. In the Great War was mobilized in 1914; but was seconded for home service till December 1915: in France 1916-19 with 2/2 Wessex Field Ambulances (Territorial) Capt. Dec. 1915; Major Oct. 1918. Territorial war medal, British War medal, Allied (Victory) medal, Croix de Guerre with bronze star gained November 1917 at Armentieres, Military Cross 3 October 1918. Territorial Decoration 1921. Appointed in 1930 medical officer of St. John Ambulance Brigade, Devon. In Masonry he was a Past Provincial Grand Warden of Devon. He and his wife lived after 1928 at Elmfield, Bear Street, Barnstaple.
